Want a bite? MMM..they sure are juicy!
We have been enjoying them for breakfast and for dessert. With the loads of sweets that we've been eating lately, this is a really nice change.

MMM! Sweet Oranges
Everyone knows that you shouldn't go shopping when you are hungry but what happens when you are shopping and the food starts calling your name? Such is what happened on the last shopping trip to Sam's Club. I had my list in hand and was sticking to it...until was passed a huge bowl of freshly cut oranges packed in ice. I was trying really hard to stick to my planned budget but we wandered over to try the oranges anyway. From the first bite, my kids wanted me to buy a bag. After two more isles of "would you please buy a big bag of them?!?", I gave in. We now own a huge bag of oranges. I'm not upset about it because it could've been much worse--the kids could've been begging for candy or other junk. Instead, they wanted nature's own sweet treats.

OK, before you cut any more of those up--and RIGHT before you cut one up--use a zester or vegetable peeler to harvest the zest from those oranges. Put it in a small container in your freezer and just add to it each time. When you need citrus zest for a recipe, you'll have it right there.
Oh they look good. You can't feel guilty about oranges at Sam's Club.
Barb, Oh, wow, I never thought of that! I will definitely start doing that! How do you use a veggie peeler to zest an orange?
luckyme, They are so sweet so I'm not feeling guilty now. :) I was worried that they wouldn't be worth the money at this time of year.
Oh Yum! I can almost smell them, and they look sooo good!
Hi Sharon! :) They really are good..especially nice and cold. MMM!
Barb that is such a good idea!! I don't know why I never thought of that before. I have frozen the zest before, but it's still in there and haven't tried using it yet. I would imagine it should be fine though. I can't tell you how many orange, lemon and lime skins I have tossed without zesting them first! UGH!
