Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

When I came across a recipe for chocolate chip cookies that said "These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever!", I just had to try them. Let's just say that they don't disappoint! These cookies are thick and chewy, just like we like them.

I found the recipe on a blog called Chocolate Bytes.

Thick and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups + 2 Tb all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

1-1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix flour, baking soda and salt together, set aside. Mix butter and sugars in mixer until well combined. Beat in egg, egg yolk and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and beat at low speed until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Using a cookie scoop, place cookies two inches apart on greased or parchment-lined cookie sheets.

Bake 10-12 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.

Whoops! I stuck my finger in one by accident. (well, I just HAD to lick it off of my finger instead of wiping it off!) MMM...ooey, gooey chocolatey heaven!

  1. WOW! These sound and look divine! I have found that when I bake Chocolate Chip Cookies I have to use 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter in order for them to not look like pancakes.

  2. We are still munching on them tonight. lol!

Kim, I've had the same trouble in the past but with this batter, it was thicker than normal...maybe because there's really no liquid in the recipe other than the vanilla and butter? I had my doubts at first but when I stirred in the choc. chunks it all came together and looked liked cookie dough.

I should edit it to say that I baked mine for 3 minutes longer for a total of about 15 minutes. They were light brown. I didn't add any nuts to ours, either.

I got 15 BIG cookies from this recipes. If made the size of a regular sized cookie, I would think that you could easily get 30 out if it.
